There’s something lovely about a celebration that nobody wants to end, and Mariia and Mike’s intimate wedding reception was exactly that.

Mariia and Mike chose our First Floor & Terrace for a relaxed summer wedding reception in Soho. With their closest friends and family around them, what was meant to be a simple three-hour celebration soon became something they weren’t quite ready to end.

Simple, romantic and a little bit special

The lovely couple weren’t looking for elaborate decoration. In fact, they would have been perfectly happy without any at all.

But we couldn’t quite let that happen.

We kept everything soft and understated, with white roses, baby’s breath, flowing white fabric and candlelight. Champagne was waiting, canapés were served and, with London treating us to one of its lovely summer days, guests moved between the First Floor and terrace throughout the reception.

Nothing overdone. Just a few details to make an already special day feel that little bit more so.

Three hours became the whole night

Mariia had originally expected the reception to last around three hours. Most guests would head home afterwards, she thought, while perhaps a few would stay for another drink on the terrace.

Three hours came and went.

And nobody seemed particularly interested in leaving.

As luck would have it, the terrace had no further reservations that night. So instead of squeezing in one final drink, the newlyweds had the whole terrace to themselves, and their friends and family stayed with them right through until closing.

Music continued, drinks kept coming and a reception that was supposed to be short and sweet simply carried on.

Sometimes simple is enough

A handmade dress and bouquet. White flowers and candlelight. Canapés, Champagne, a warm London summer day and a terrace full of people who weren’t ready to go home.

Sometimes, that’s more than enough.
